Psychotherapy Services in Malta

Description

Psychotherapy services offered through Malta’s public health system are designed to promote emotional well-being and mental health support for individuals and families. Psychotherapy aims to improve the lives of clients by attending to their emotional, relational, somatic and spiritual needs in a holistic manner. Psychotherapists deliver psychotherapeutic interventions according to the modality that they have trained in. The services provide access to qualified professionals offering psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, elderly and public service employees.

Services are delivered through dedicated multidisciplinary teams operating in the following areas:

  • General Health
  • Mental Health
    1. Child and Adolescent
    2. Adult and Older adult

Procedure

Referrals are typically made by a recognised health professional (e.g. GP, psychiatrist, consultant). However, in the case of staff support services, individuals may also self-refer.

All individuals who are eligible for National Health Services in Malta and Gozo under current regulations may access psychotherapy services.

Required Documents

To access services, you will need:

  • A valid Identity Card or another official identification document
